Goals and Objectives

OUR VISION: We see the need for and envision the value of more sustained institutional collaboration, including multicultural and global outreach and networking. CHTP will serve as a consortium to foster mutually beneficial cooperation among its member organizations, guided by the following goals and objectives:

GOAL I. Recognition and validation of humanistic, existential and transpersonal education, training, and service programs.

OBJECTIVE I.A. Continuing to offer the option to member programs to be accredited by CHTP through a peer review process.

OBJECTIVE I.B. To create, maintain and disseminate a list of programs accredited by CHTP.

OBJECTIVE I.C. To serve as a liaison and caucus for CHTP interests at such organizations as APA, NCSPP, ABSTT, NAMP, CAMP and COGCOP.

OBJECTIVE I.D. To assist in obtaining funding to support the missions of CHTP institutions in such areas as: research, scholarships, fellowships, service learning opportunities and curriculum development.

GOAL II. Enhancement of CHTP humanistic, existential and transpersonal academic and training programs and service sites through the facilitation of international resource sharing.

OBJECTIVE II.A. To broker and serve as a clearinghouse for issues regarding academic articulation agreements, such as transferability of faculty, students, courses, and credits among CHTP educational institutions. This objective will be met by establishing arrangements whereby:
1. Students can take courses at one CHTP institution while matriculating at another;

2. Faculty at one CHTP institution can teach courses at another;

3. Faculty can teach courses for students at multiple CHTP institutions; and

4. Faculty can offer mini-courses and workshops at different CHTP institutions.

OBJECTIVE II.B. To broker and serve as a clearinghouse for CHTP accredited internship sites and other training and service opportunities. This objective will be met by establishing arrangements whereby:

1. Students can receive credit for placement at CHTP internship sites and training and research institutions;

2. Faculty can serve as consultants at CHTP internship and service sites; and

3. Practitioners at CHTP sites can offer lectures, courses, workshops at CHTP academic programs.

OBJECTIVE II.C. To broker and serve as a clearinghouse for academic and professional development.

1. CHTP will provide an archival resource for such items as: new course development proposals, syllabi, reading lists, grant proposals, publications.

2. CHTP will sponsor workshops for curriculum development and pedagogy.

OBJECTIVE II.D. To promote pluralistic innovative and alternative models of human education and training, and facilitate their interface with traditional programs.

GOAL III. Promotion of synergy by the provision of various means for international networking opportunities among CHTP institutions and members.

OBJECTIVE III.A. To gather, collate and disseminate relevant information about developments and opportunities in the field.

OBJECTIVE III.B. To foster collaborative research among CHTP institutions with and among academic and service sites.

OBJECTIVE III.C. To serve as a clearinghouse for job opportunities in CHTP institutions, internship and service learning opportunities at CHTP sties, and for available scholarships and fellowships at CHTP institutions.

OBJECTIVE III.D. To develop and maintain links with other organizations supportive of humanistic, existential and transpersonal psychology, such as: the Association of Humanistic Psychology, the Division of Humanistic Psychology (APA), the Association of Transpersonal Psychology, the Human Science Research Association.

GOAL IV. Dissemination of information promoting the development of humanistic, existential and transpersonal psychology.

OBJECTIVE IV.A. To establish and maintain a CHTP web site.

OBJECTIVE IV.B. To sponsor various conferences and workshops, including a biannual international meeting on humanistic, existential and transpersonal psychology.

OBJECTIVE IV.C. To host an annual organizational meeting of CHTP members.

OBJECTIVE IV.D. To support publications about humanistic, existential and transpersonal psychology.

GOAL V. Provision of support for the international marketing and public relations efforts of CHTP organizations.

OBJECTIVE V.A. To provide a common marketing platform for CHTP graduate programs for the recruitment of students.

OBJECTIVE V.B. To assist graduates of CHTP programs with career placement

OBJECTIVE V.C. To assist CHTP institutions in the recruitment of faculty and administrators.

GOAL VI. Promotion of human fulfillment through the support and development of interdisciplinary paradigms of holism, sustainability, global and multicultural pluralism, deep ecology, de-alienation, authenticity, psychospiritual development, social transformation and liberation.

OBJECTIVE VI.A. To create, support and credential alternative vocations serving human needs not yet met or even recognized that lend themselves to the orientation, competence and training afforded by CPD institutions, such as: caregivers, community development experts, human systems analysts, holistic health practitioners, and culturally contextual educators.

OBJECTIVE VI.B. To foster and support the emergence of new institutions and diverse learning communities that further develop and promote these ideals internationally.
